The Mk V Polo GTI promises to be the fastest, most focussed and cleanest performance Polo yet produced. At its heart is a 1.4-litre TSI engine that uses a supercharger from idle through to 3,000rpm at which point the turbocharger cuts in to provide boost. The result is an output of 180 PS at 6,200rpm and 184lbs ft of torque from 2,000rpm which, when aligned with a 1,184kg kerb weight, allows the Polo GTI to accelerate from rest to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 142 mph.

Volkswagen has presented the new C Coupé GTE at Auto Shanghai 2015. This four-door concept car for the Chinese market – which is over five metres in length – combines exclusivity, perfection and passion. The C Coupé GTE is powered by an innovative plug-in hybrid drive system, whose drive sources combine to produce an impressive 500 Newton metres of system torque.

The progressive C Coupé GTE illustrates a new design approach for Volkswagen’s top future saloons. Its contemporary form is impressive from all angles: while its long bonnet conveys a confident appearance, from the side, the four-door C Coupé GTE shows elegant lines, low-profile side windows and horizontal character line that is formed by two lines. From the rear, this structure comes together distinctively, emphasising the vehicle’s width.

The C Coupé GTE has one of the world’s most advanced plug-in hybrid drive systems. It consists of a turbocharged petrol direct-injection engine (TSI) with four cylinders,an 8-speed automatic gearbox, an electric motor integrated in the gearbox module and a lithium-ion battery. The TSI engine produces 210 PS, while the electric motor has a power output of 124 PS. The hybrid drive develops a system power of 245 PS and an impressive system torque of 500 Nm. The battery integrated at the rear can be charged while driving or while parked.

The C Coupé GTE can also be powered all-electrically (up to a speed of 130 km/h (81 mph)); this mode enables driving with zero local emissions and a range of 50 kilometres (31 mph). The car’s combined fuel consumption (NEDC for plug-in hybrid vehicles) is 2.3 litres per 100 kilometres. This figure equates to CO2 emissions of just 55 g/km. The car’s total driving range is over 800 kilometres (497 miles). Despite its excellent fuel efficiency, the C Coupé GTE also has sporty ambitions. This Volkswagen accelerates to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 232 km/h (144 mph).

  • Generously-equipped Polo Match replaces SE trim and adds extra style and function
  • High-spec Golf GT Edition and R-Line Edition supersede GT and R-Line models
  • New Passat SE Business incorporates functional upgrades and Discover Navigation

Volkswagen is gearing up for a busy start to 2016 with a raft of trim upgrades across the brand’s core models. New versions of the Polo, Golf, and Passat Saloon and Estate are available to order from Volkswagen UK Retailers now, with deliveries set to begin early in the New Year.

Leading the charge is the generously-equipped Polo Match. Replacing the popular SE trim the new Polo Match – available in three- and five-door bodystyles and with a broad range of engine and transmission options – adds more than £900-worth of extra equipment to Volkswagen’s perennially popular supermini.

Among the new standard-fit features on the Polo Match are cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, front fog lights with static cornering function, tinted rear windows and smart new 15-inch Stratford alloy wheels.  All this comes with a price rise of just £100 OTR, meaning the Polo Match is available to order now from £12,735 RRP OTR.

The iconic Volkswagen Golf, now in its seventh generation, continues the 2016 momentum with the imminent showroom debuts of the Golf GT Edition and Golf R-Line Edition.

The forthcoming Golf GT Edition replaces the GT trim level, and gains an additional £1,795 worth of equipment including 18-inch Durban alloy wheels, and panoramic sunroof.  The new model is priced from £23,915 RRP OTR – just £300 more than the GT it replaces.

Meanwhile, the exciting new Golf R-Line Edition replaces the R-Line trim and, for an increase of just £250 OTR, adds an additional £1,730-worth of equipment including larger 18-inch Serron alloys wheels and a panoramic sunroof.  The Golf R-Line Edition will be available to order from £24,860 RRP OTR and, as with the new GT Edition, is set to arrive in Volkswagen UK Retailer showrooms early in 2016.

Boosting the appeal of the multi-award-winning Passat and Passat Estate is the debut of a revised SE Business trim level which adds even more style, and value, to the premium-focused class leader.

The SE Business designation – which is enhanced at the same time as the SE spec is removed from the range – offers attractive, high-spec features as standard such as Discover Navigation, front fog lights, electric folding door mirrors and tinted rear windows – together amounting to £555 of value – for just £100 OTR more than the outgoing SE models.

  • No unlawful change to the stated fuel consumption and CO2 figures found to date
  • Only a small number of the model variants of new cars will have the catalogue figure slightly adjusted

Wolfsburg, 9 December 2015 –Just a month after questions relating to the CO2 figures measured on some of the Group's models arose, Volkswagen has largely concluded the clarification of the matter. Following extensive internal investigations and measurement checks, it is now clear that almost all of these model variants do correspond to the CO2figures originally determined. This means that these vehicles can be marketed and sold without any limitations. The suspicion that the fuel consumption figures of current production vehicles had been unlawfully changed was not confirmed. During internal re-measurements slight deviations were found on just nine model variants of the Volkswagen brand.

These model variants will be re-measured by a neutral technical service under the supervision of the appropriate authority by Christmas. In cases where the correctness of original figures is confirmed, there will be no consequences. These cars can be offered for sale by dealers without any reservations. In the case of any deviations, the figures will be adjusted in the future in the course of the normal processes as required.

Volkswagen presented these results to the investigation commission of the Federal Government and the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). The figure of approximately 800,000 vehicles under suspicion originally published by the Volkswagen Group has not been confirmed. The deviations found in the figures for only nine model variants amount to a few grams of CO2 on average, corresponding to increased cycle consumption in the NEDC of approximately 0.1 to 0.2 litres per 100 kilometres. With an annual production of approximately 36,000 vehicles, these model variants correspond to around only 0.5 per cent of the volume of the Volkswagen brand. The list of the nine model variants can be found at www.volkswagen-media-services.com.

The Group's subsidiaries Audi, SKODA and SEAT have also agreed a similar procedure with the approval authorities responsible for the vehicles initially considered.

Customers' real-world consumption figures do not change and neither are any technical vehicle modifications necessary. Against this background, the negative impact on earnings of €2 billion that was originally expected has not been confirmed.

Whether we will have a minor economic impact, depends on the results of the re-measurement exercise.

Please note: This text and the overview of vehicles to be adjusted in future with new CO2 figures, model year 2016, can be found at www.volkswagen-media-services.com. The information contained in this press release does not apply to products and services from the Volkswagen Group of America or Volkswagen Canada.
